First week of polishing


Last  week we started polishing all of our mechanics and recorded our character sound effects as well as the voice of a narrator. Since we have 4 characters and one narrator every member of the foodfighters team has his/her voice in the game ;p. This is not the only thing that changed this week so let's see what neat things we've added!

Mechanics

  • Added haptic feedback
    • When players die
    • When damaged by other players or environment
  • Added water surface on top of the water so the water feels more natural
  • Out of bounds texture that shows where the player is positioned out of the screen
  • in-game HUD shakes when player in question dies
  • Changed player spawn points, you also can't spawn on the highest clouds in the cookingstage anymore.
  • Tweaked the hood, it now isn't such a big area anymore, and is less powerful.
  • Menu makeover

Art

  • Faucet animation has been updated
  • The "combo" HUD element has been updated (small particle for when it appears and multiple combo tiers, depending on the size)

  • Models to be scattered around (beef cube with wrapper, salt hill and salt, spicy peppers)


  • We added a simple particle to show that the hood is sucking up air


  • Updated salt barrel and dish soup models


Sound

As said above we've recorded our sound effects for our characters, and most of the soundeffects already found their way into the game.

Next Week

Next week is our last polishing week, some last tweaks and further polishing will be done.
